What are Permission Set Licenses, Permission Set Groups, and Permission Sets?
You can control users' access to CME features and functionality with permission set licenses, permission set groups, and permission sets.
Permission Set Licenses
Permission set licenses incrementally provide user-level functionality for individual users. By assigning PSLs to users, administrators can extend a user’s entitlements. Administrators in subscriber orgs can view their permission set license entitlements in their orgs’ Company Information page in Setup once their org is provisioned. Then, they can assign permission set licenses, along with their related standard permission sets, to end-users who require the permissions in the license.
Permission Sets
Permission sets are a collection of settings and permissions that give users access to various tools and functions. Permission sets extend users’ functional access without changing their profiles. Assign permission sets available in the managed package along with permission set licenses to extend access to users.
Permission Set Groups
Permission Set Groups streamline permissions assignment and management. Use a permission set group to bundle permission sets together based on user job functions. Users assigned the permission set group receive the combined permissions of all the permission sets in the group. You can include a permission set in more than one permission set group. Updates in a permission set propagate to all permission set groups that include the permission set.
Sample Permission Sets and Permission Set Groups
With the Spring '22 release, you can also optionally deploy and install sample permission sets and permission set groups. The sample permission sets provide object, class, and page access. The sample permission set groups are customized to provide access rights for specific personas. You can use these samples with either Managed Package Licenses or permission set licenses. You can download the sample permission sets.
