Understanding How KPIs are Calculated based on Week Day Share Profile

Understanding How KPIs are Calculated based on Week Day Share Profile

The calculation period is divided into sub periods. The read KPIs values must be distributed between these sub periods to aid in further calculations. KPIs values are distributed using week day share profile.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions where Consumer Goods Cloud is enabled

If each day of the week gets a share of 1, each sub week would get an equal share of the KPI value. It’s also possible to configure a different share for each day of the week.

          Note
Note Week day share profile is also applicable for custom calendars, but the system considers corresponding custom periods instead of weeks.

Here a week (Week 42) with three sub weeks. Here’s how the source data is split.

          Sample data

The week day share profile is also used for distribution of monthly data. But since the profile is set up for week days, the percentage values can’t be used directly. Here’s how weekly profile can be applied to monthly data.

          Sample data

Depending on the Enable Customer Category Profile setting of the sales org, the system uses either category-dependent or category-independent week day share profiles in calculation.

Category-independent week day share profiles are linked to a customer or sales org. First, the system uses the profile linked to a customer, for distribution of Read KPIs. If a customer-specific profile isn’t defined, the system uses the profile linked to a sales org. If profile isn’t defined at sales org, then an equal split over all week days is considered.

Category-dependent week day share profiles, the system uses the profile that is linked to the relevant customer and category. If a profile isn’t available, the system uses a profile that’s linked to the customer for all categories. If a customer-linked profile isn’t available, the system looks for the profile that’s linked to the sales org. If there aren’t any profiles linked to the sales org, the system uses an equal split over all the week days.

          Customer Category Weekday Share Profile
          Customer Category Weekday Share Profile

Prerequisite: Customer Category Profile must be enabled for the sales org. Here are details of a promotion, which shows the distribution pattern for the week.

          Sample

Here’s a customer category week day distribution profile.

Sample customer category weekday distribution profile

If the promotion period is reduced to just 3 days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday), here’s how then the values for the products based on the distribution change.

Product values for 3-day promotion period

The categories for which the value change affected are:

          • Frozen: 20% (Monday) + 20% (Tuesday) + 20% (Wednesday) = 60.00
          • Beverages: 0.00% (Monday) + 0.00% (Tuesday) + 0.00% (Wednesday) = 0.00
          • Chips: This category isn’t defined in the customer category week day distribution profile.

If there’s a record with an empty category, then this record's distribution is considered. If there aren’t such records, the week day distribution profile in the sales org is considered. If the week day distribution profile is empty, then the default equal week day split is considered. So, it’s 0.00% (Monday) + 25.00% (Tuesday) + 25.00% (Wednesday) = 50.00.

          • Snacks: Follows a similar pattern as Chips. So, it’s 0.00% (Monday) + 25.00% (Tuesday) + 25.00% (Wednesday) = 50.00.
