Configure Intelligent Document Reader

Enable Intelligent Document Reader, and configure the relevant features and permissions.

  • Enable Intelligent Document Reader
    To give users access to Intelligent Document Reader, enable the feature and select the named credential that you created for your Amazon Web Services (AWS) account.
  • Assign Object Permissions for Intelligent Document Reader
    Give users access to the objects they need for Intelligent Document Reader.
  • Enable Image Preview for Documents
    From Salesforce Files, enable image preview for the documents that users work with.
  • Configure Global Content Extraction Settings
    Configure the maximum number of pages that can be extracted at a time and the confidence score threshold. Enable Amazon Textract Analyze ID to extract information from identity documents. Enable Amazon Textract Tables to extract information from tables. Enable Amazon Textract Queries to extract information using natural language queries.
  • Create Document Types
    Create document types for each type of document that you want to extract information from. For example, if you want to extract information from identity documents, create a document type that can be used for all identity documents.
  • Create Templates for Document Types
    Create a template for each document type. Then, specify the objects and the object record types where you want to store the information extracted from the uploaded documents.
  • Map Document Fields to Object and Record Type Fields
    Intelligent Document Reader extracts data from the incoming document and stores them in document fields. Select an object and an associated record type to store the extracted data and then map document fields to the fields of the selected object and record type.
  • Extract Tables for Intelligent Document Reader
    Enable Amazon Textract Tables to extract tabular information from the documents.
  • Mapping Requirements for Tables in Intelligent Document Reader
    When you use tables in Intelligent Document Reader, make sure that each table’s headers correspond accurately to the relevant object fields in Salesforce. This mapping ensures easy integration and accurate data extraction from documents.
  • Use Queries to Extract Information
    Enable Amazon Textract Queries to extract information by using natural language queries.
  • Flow Actions for Intelligent Document Reader
    Extract text from an uploaded document or get the active OCR template details by using actions in Salesforce Flows.
  • Sample Flow to Extract and Store Text in Records
    Create a flow in Flow Builder by using Intelligent Document Reader Flow actions to extract text from uploaded documents or content document IDs. Get the active OCR template details, and then use Apex to create records for storing the extracted text.
