          Create Usage-Based Products

          Create Usage-Based Products

Evaluate and select the appropriate usage model type for creating a sellable product.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with the Revenue Cloud Advanced license or the Revenue Cloud Billing license

          Pre-requisites

Before you create a sellable product, make sure that you complete these prerequisites.

          • For a commitment-based product, create a product usage resource, a product usage resource policy, rate card, and a product usage grant with the type set to Commit.
          • For a monetary-commitment product, create a usage resource with the Currency category. Associate the usage resources included in the monetary-commitment product with the new currency resource. This currency resource is used to rate the usage resource associated with the monetary-commitment product.
          • For a quantity-commitment product, create a usage resource with the Usage category.
          • For a token-commitment product, create a usage resource with the Token category. Associate the usage resources included in the token-commitment product with the token resource. This token resource is used to rate the usage resource associated with the token-commitment product.
          Note
Note Usage Management doesn't support bundled products.

Create a usage product by selecting the usage model type that matches the product you want to offer. For steps to create a product, see Create Simple Products.

          Usage Model Type Description
          Anchor

Use it for the main product or service.

For example, Acme purchases a Cloud Premium Anchor product, which includes 5 hours of GPU Compute, 1 TB of Cloud Storage, and 1 million API Calls.

          Pack

Use it for an add-on product or service that provides additional units of usage resources.

For example, Acme purchases the Extend Cloud Storage pack to get an additional 2 TB of cloud storage.

          Monetary Commitment

Use it for an agreement by a customer to spend a minimum amount of money for a product or service in a defined period.

For example, Acme commits to spending at least $1.2M on cloud services over the next 12 months. In exchange for this commitment, Acme receives a 20% discount on the anchor product rates for all their usage, which includes GPU compute, cloud storage, and API calls.

          Quantity Commitment

Use it for an agreement by a customer to use a minimum quantity of a product or service in a defined period.

For example, Acme invests in a Quantity Commitment Pack product, agreeing to use 30 hours of GPU Compute, 5 TB of Cloud Storage, and 4 million API Calls across the year. In return for this commitment, Acme secures a 35% discount on the anchor product rates, effectively reducing ‌costs to $16 per GPU compute hour, $10 per TB for cloud storage, and $36 per million API calls.

          Token Commitment

Use it for an agreement by a customer to use a minimum quantity of tokens for a product or service in a defined period.

For example, Acme licenses a Token-Based Commitment Pack product, agreeing to the utilization of 10,000 tokens within the year. These tokens can be applied to different services, such as additional GPU compute hours, cloud storage, and API calls. Valued at $1 each, with a 20% discount, the cost is reduced to $0.80 per token. This arrangement allows Acme to enjoy both flexibility and cost savings in their token usage.
