          Intelligent Document Automation

          Intelligent Document Automation

Centralize all your document management tasks in one place. Use Intelligent Document Automation to get the most out of incoming customer information provided in PDFs and image files. Extract data from these documents into preconfigured document records in Salesforce. Work efficiently with customer-related documents that have been faxed or emailed to you. Convert them to digital files; select pages to include or exclude; rotate those pages if needed; and extract their data into Salesforce.

          How It Works

When a user uploads a document, Salesforce creates a record for that document and allows the user to extract data from selected pages of the document using an optical character recognition process that runs in the background. You can use action plan templates to automatically attach the scanned document to a document checklist item, assign it to a queue, or trigger a flow.

To make Intelligent Document Automation available to your users, identify the kinds of documents they'll be working with and decide how to handle the data from those documents.

The document management process begins when a user uploads a PDF, JPG, or PNG file to Salesforce. A user can select pages in this content document to extract data from with Intelligent Form Reader.

A Received Document record is created every time a user uploads an image file and manipulates the uploaded file. By default, the name of the Received Document is the name of the file that the user uploaded.

Intelligent Document Automation works with PDF, JPG, and PNG image files. However, PDF files with form field data are not supported.

          Get Started

          • Set Up Intelligent Document Automation
To simplify your document management process, set up document types, enable an API to extract data, and ensure your users have access. You can also set up action plans, queues, or processes to automate your document work flows.
          • Upload a Document
Use the Received Documents view to add submitted documents to your collection.
          • Use Data from a Document
To get the right information to the right place, select the pages you need and discard the rest. Pages that have already been associated with an object and attached to a document checklist item are marked with a “Transformed” icon.
