Field Service for Energy and Utilities: Short Cycle Work (Managed Package)
Enable mobile workers to access and complete service appointment tasks on the field service mobile app.
This app is part of the Energy and Utilities Cloud managed package.
Short Cycle Work is built using Flow Builder and Field Service. For information about flows, see Flow Builder. For information about the flows on the Field Service app, see Add Flows to the Field Service Mobile App.
Short Cycle Work comes with a sample template tailored to predefined utility scenarios such as:
-
Gas meter replacement
-
Meter turn-on/move in
-
Meter turn-off/move out
When a service agent creates a work order for a customer account, a service appointment and work plan are automatically associated with with the work order. The associated work plan depends on the selected work type. For more information about work orders, work plans, and work steps, see Manage Field Service Work Orders.
A service appointment that is scheduled and dispatched is visible for the mobile worker on the Field Service Mobile app. The mobile worker can browse through the steps in a work plan and mark them as completed. This triggers the flows associated with each work step. The work plan steps on the Field Service Mobile app are fetched from the steps in the flow. For example, the health and safety check instructions are in the Health And Safety Checks screen element of the sample flow.
The flow also captures the input from the mobile worker, and updates the associated objects automatically. For example, when a meter reading is captured, it is automatically stored in the Meter Read field under the Asset Attributes for the Gas Meter asset.
