A lending institution offers several loan types, including auto loan, house loan, and personal loan. A borrower wants to find and apply for a personal loan with a repayment term of 36 months. The institution needs its product offerings organized so borrowers can quickly locate the right product and select the terms that fit their needs.

Example
Example

The institution stores its lending products in a product catalog for Digital Lending. Within that catalog, products are organized into categories and subcategories so borrowers can browse from broad product types down to specific offerings like the personal loan. The personal loan product has attributes assigned to it, such as a picklist attribute that shows the loan term of 12 Months, 24 Months, and 36 Months. A borrower selects the 36-month term.

Because the institution plans to offer additional personal loan products in the future, it also defines a personal loan product classification. The classification contains a collection of attributes that describe the general properties of the personal loan product, so new products can be defined quickly and consistently.
