Set Up Multi-Resource Scheduling for Intelligent Appointment Management

Set Up Multi-Resource Scheduling for Intelligent Appointment Management

Improve care coordination by ensuring that all relevant providers and assets are available for patient appointments. Add multi-resource scheduling to the Intelligent Appointment Management console and enable related features.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Health Cloud

          User Permissions Needed
To use Intelligent Appointment Management: Health Cloud Appointment Management
To edit Lightning pages: Customize Application

Keep in mind these setup considerations:

          • If you use Salesforce Scheduler, available providers and assets must have a service resource defined and a relevant Work Type Code Set Bundle that specifies Salesforce as the scheduling system. If you use an external scheduling system, available providers and assets must have an identifier defined and a relevant Work Type Code Set Bundle that specifies External as the scheduling system.
          • Users who schedule multi-resource appointments need Read access to the Healthcare Practitioner Facility Appointment object’s Required field.

Also understand the user experience for appointment schedulers:

          • Schedulers can book multiple resources for single appointments or multi-step appointments. They can designate provider attendance as required or optional. They can also add non-bookable assets such as a wheelchair and a cane to multi-resource appointments.
          • By default, schedulers can book up to two resources per appointment, such as two providers or a provider and an asset such as a room. To give schedulers the option to book up to three resources, contact Salesforce Customer Support. Retrieving time slots for more than two resources per appointment can negatively impact your org’s performance.
          • The Intelligent Appointment Management console prevents schedulers from booking multiple resources from different scheduling systems. Search results show providers or assets configured in either Salesforce Scheduler or an external scheduling system, not both.
          • Schedulers must specify a facility name for a multi-resource appointment. Search results show providers with a matching facility in the Care Provider Searchable Field record, and show assets with a matching account in the asset record.
          • When a scheduler begins typing a provider name in multi-resource appointment scheduling mode, the matching provider names show specialties in a pipe-delimited list. You can’t change the formatting of this pipe-delimited list. The selected search result card shows specialties without pipe delimiters.
          1. Add multi-resource scheduling to the Intelligent Appointment Management Console.
            1. Open a page with the Intelligent Appointment Management component, such as a person account, clinical service request, or task page. Click the Setup icon and then select Edit page.
            2. Click the tab used for appointment scheduling, and then click the Healthcare Appointment Scheduler component.
            3. Select Show multi-resource scheduling.
          2. From Setup, in Salesforce Scheduler Settings, enable Multi-Resource Scheduling.
          3. From Setup, in the active Intelligent Appointment Management Configuration, enter a Get Slot Status Timeout value.
The timeout value specifies the number of milliseconds before a request to retrieve time slot statuses from a scheduling system times out.
