          Schedule a Recurring Appointment

          Schedule a Recurring Appointment

          Create a series of ongoing appointments at a specified frequency. For example, schedule physical therapy, mental health counseling, or chronic disease management appointments that occur every Wednesday for 12 weeks. Set the number of appointment occurrences and adjust individual occurrences before booking the appointment series. Modify or cancel an occurrence later, or cancel the entire series if needed.

          Depending on your org's configuration, you can book providers, assets, or both.

          1. From the patient’s account page or a clinical service request page, open the Appointment Management console.
          2. If your console shows an appointment list, click Schedule Appointments.
          3. Click Start Recurring Scheduling.
          4. Select a visit type.
          5. If your org is configured for provider and asset scheduling, select which resource to schedule the appointment with.
          6. Gather the patient’s preferences for the engagement channel, start date, time, time zone, distance, and provider or asset for this appointment.
          7. Specify the frequency of the appointments and an end date or number of occurrences to schedule. Then click Set Recurrence.

            The calendar highlights suggested visit times based on the patient preferences. If the usual time slot is unavailable on a certain day, the calendar alerts you by highlighting an alternative time slot in a contrasting color.

            To change the time slot for an appointment, drag it to an available time slot on the same day.

            To skip an appointment, click it and select Skip Occurrence. To add a skipped appointment back to the series, click it and deselect Skip Occurrence.

            Tip
            Tip To set a recurrence that repeats every 2 months or more on a specific date, select the first preferred occurrence as your start date. For example, if a patient wants an appointment on the first of the month every 3 months, select the first of the next month as the start date. Otherwise your first scheduled appointment is 3 months from the start date.
          8. To view subsequent appointment occurrences, click Next.
            Note
            Note If preferred time slots aren’t available for appointment occurrences on the next page, suggested appointment times don’t necessarily match patient preferences.
          9. Click Create Appointment.
          10. Review the recurring appointment details.

            To add non-bookable assets such as a wheelchair or cane to an appointment, select Add Assets. Then look up and select up to five assets.

            Add extra details in the Comments field.

          11. Confirm your changes.
