A Group Census is a central concept in group insurance. It represents a snapshot of all
eligible members of a group (such as employees of an employer) and their dependents. Insurance
carriers use census data at every stage of the group benefits lifecycle, including quoting,
rating, and enrollment.

What a group census contains
Group information – The account the census is linked to, effective date, and census type
(quote vs. enrollment).
Member details – Employee or member personal information. For example, date of birth,
gender, smoker status, and dependents.
Summaries – Aggregate statistics such as total members, dependents, or members by class
that aligns with quotes and contracts.
Create a Group Class Group classes are groups of members who all receive similar benefits. Examples of group classes include Executives, Managers, and Directors.
Create a Group Census Create a group census to capture member and dependent information for quoting, rating, and enrollment.
Add the Insurance Group Census Lightning Web Component The Insurance Group Census Lightning web component gives users a straightforward way to incorporate census data into group census. After a Salesforce admin configures the component and incorporates it into workflows, insurance carrier administrators and brokers upload census data and fix data exceptions.
Upload Group Census Data Use a csv file to upload census information such as group members and dependents into a group census.
Manage Group Census Data Browse and update information about group members, dependents, and plan selections. The fields you see when adding or editing a member or dependent are based on the default page layout of the Group Census Member object.
