Create a Price Adjustment Schedule for Sales Agreements

Price designers categorize the discounts or price adjustments for the guidance prices of products in sales agreements by creating price adjustment schedules. These schedules can be based on the volume or attributes of products in the sales agreements.

Create a Price Adjustment Schedule for Volume Discounts

Define volume-based discounts for guidance prices of products by creating a price adjustment schedule and adding price adjustment tiers to the schedule.

To create price adjustment schedules for products, make sure that product records have been created in Salesforce.

          1. Create a price adjustment schedule record with the Volume schedule type.
A price adjustment schedule can be defined to a flat discount or a tiered discount based on the product quantity sold.
          2. To add tiers to the price adjustment schedules, create price adjustment tier records related to the price adjustment schedule record.
A price adjustment tier specifies the minimum and maximum quantity of products that must be sold for a discount.
          Example
Example A pricing designer at Shaw Generator Manufacturers creates a price adjustment schedule to define the discounts for the green generators that they sell. The admin creates a price adjustment schedule with these details.
          FieldValue
Price Adjustment Schedule Name Green Generators Price Adjustment Schedule
Description A volume-based price adjustment schedule for the green generators

The admin creates price adjustment tiers for three products.

          Natural Gas Generator A1 Amount 1,300 10 25
          Natural Gas Generator A1 Amount 1,100 26 40

To ensure that the guidance prices for products in a sales agreement match the price adjustments defined in a price adjustment schedule, specify the price adjustment schedule in the sales agreement.

Create a Price Adjustment Schedule for Attribute-Based Adjustments

Define attribute-based discounts for guidance prices of products by creating a price adjustment schedule. Then, group the attributes of a product with the acceptable values of the attributes for a price adjustment. Finally, specify the value of the discount for the product and its associated attributes.

To create price adjustment schedules for products, ensure that you have price-impacting attributes associated with products in your org.

          1. Create a Price Adjustment Schedule record with the Attribute schedule type.
A price adjustment schedule can be defined to a flat discount or a tiered discount based on the attributes of the product sold.
          2. To group various attributes that determine an attribute-based adjustment for a product, create an Attribute Based Adjustment Rule record.
An attribute-based adjustment groups the price-impacting attributes of a product.
          3. To specify the acceptable value of an attribute in an adjustment rule, create an Attribute Adjustment Condition record.
An attribute adjustment condition is like a formula that specifies a product, the attribute definition that describes the product’s attribute, an operator for the condition, and the acceptable value of the attribute for a price adjustment. You can create various attribute-based conditions within an attribute based adjustment rule.
          4. To specify the price adjustment for an attribute based adjustment rule, create an Attribute Based Adjustment record.

Shaw Generator Manufacturers sells a line of renewable energy generators. A product designer must define the attributes of the generator and assign them to all the generators.

To define the attributes that describe generators, the product designer creates these attribute definition records.

          • Voltage (numerical data type)
          • Fuel Type (picklist data type)
          • Mobility (picklist data type)

To quickly group these attributes and assign them to all generator products, the product designer creates a product classification called Generators. They assign the attribute definitions for generators to the product classification. They set the Voltage and Fuel Type attributes as price impacting in the product classification.

The product designer creates three product records to model the three renewable energy generators it sells.

          • Hydrogen Generator A1
          • Hydrogen Generator B2
          • Natural Gas Generator A1

They create all three product records based on the Generators product classification. The products inherit the three attributes associated with the product classification, including the two price impacting attributes: Fuel Type and Voltage.

A pricing designer must create an attribute based adjustment for all Natural Gas Generator A1 products. They must define a flat 15% discount for all Natural Gas Generators A1 products with the fuel type as Natural Gas and voltage as more than or equal to 240 volts.

The pricing designer creates a price adjustment schedule for the attribute-based adjustment.

Price Adjustment Schedule Name Description Adjustment Method Schedule Type Active Price Book
Green Generators Attribute-Based Adjustment Schedule An attribute-based price adjustment schedule for Natural Gas Generators. Slab Attribute True Renewable Energy Generators Price Book

To group the attributes of generators that impact the prices of the natural gas generators, they create an attribute based adjustment rule called Natural Gas Generators Rule.

To define the conditions of the price adjustment, the pricing designer creates two attribute adjustment conditions for the Natural Gas Generators Rule attribute based adjustment rule.

Attribute Based Adjustment Rule Attribute Definition Product Operator Value
Natural Gas Generators Rule Fuel Type Natural Gas Generator A1 Equal Natural Gas
Natural Gas Generators Rule Voltage Natural Gas Generator A1 Greater or Equal 240

To specify the discount for the attribute based adjustment rule, they create an attribute based adjustment.

Price Adjustment Schedule Product Attribute Based Adjustment Rule Adjustment Type Adjustment Value
Green Generators Attribute-Based Adjustment Schedule Natural Gas Generator A1 Natural Gas Generators Rule Percentage 15

To ensure that the guidance prices for products in a sales agreement reflect the price adjustments defined in a price adjustment schedule, specify the price adjustment schedule in the sales agreement.
