Create a Rental Car Energy Use Record
Create a rental car record for each rental car. Rental cars are scope 3 category, so rental car energy use records must match the rental car emissions factors.

Use one of these methods to calculate rental car scope 3 emissions:
-
Obtain aggregated values from rental car vendors for greenhouse gas emissions in metric tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e). Enter the value in Vendor-Provided Emissions (tCO2e). This value overrides the total scope 3 emissions value.
-
Enter the distance, the distance unit, and the fuel efficiency of the rental car on the associated rental car emissions factors record. The fuel efficiency can be entered in miles per US gallon or liters per 100 kilometers.
You can use the five inbuilt rental car emissions factor records to enter data for different rental car size categories or create your own rental car travel categories.
These energy use fields are calculated based on the input values and the emissions factors:
-
Fuel Efficiency (L/100 km)
-
Fuel Efficiency (mpg)
-
Scope 3 Emissions (tCO2e)
-
Total Fuel Consumption (US Gallons)
-
Total Fuel Consumption (Liters)
-
CH4 Emissions (kg)
-
CO2 Emissions (kg)
-
N2O Emissions (kg)
For more information about calculations that are used to generate these values, see Net Zero Cloud Calculations.
To create a rental car energy use record:
- From the App Launcher, find and select Rental Car Energy Use.
- Click New.
- Enter a record name.
-
Select a value for Scope 3 Emissions Source.
Note The emissions factor related to the emissions source is automatically added to this energy use record when you save it. If you select a value for the emissions factor, your selection overrides the emissions factor that is related to the asset. - Select a value for Scope 3 Carbon Footprint.
- Enter a value for Vendor-Provided Emissions (tCO2e).
- Enter a value for Rental Car Emissions Factor.
- Select a fuel type.
- Enter a supplemental scope 3 emissions value.
- Enter information for any optional fields.
- Save your changes.
