            Annual Emissions Inventory

            An emissions inventory is the accounting of emissions from multiple emissions sources for a specific period. An accurate emissions inventory serves as a strong foundation to report your carbon footprints and generate precise short-term and long-term targets. You can aggregate emissions across your company’s assets and procurement activities for a year to provide the total annual emissions inventory. We recommend having a full year’s carbon emissions data to set your emissions inventory.

            You calculate the emissions inventory using your carbon footprint records in Net Zero Cloud. See Manage Your Carbon Footprint. To aggregate the emissions from a carbon footprint, make sure that the Reporting Year, Footprint Stage, and Annual Emissions Inventory fields in the carbon footprint record are filled out.

            • Create an Annual Emissions Inventory
              An annual emissions inventory aggregates emissions from carbon footprint records. You can create one annual emissions inventory record for an account for a specific year.
            • Associate Footprints to an Annual Emissions Inventory
              Enhance your inventory calculations by relating carbon footprints to the annual emissions inventory in bulk and by selecting the footprint stages of the carbon footprints. Only the carbon footprints in the stages that you select are associated with the inventory.
            • Lock Annual Emissions Inventory Records
              Lock annual emissions inventory records to prevent changes, exclude them from recalculations, and to ensure governance of your sustainability data. When you lock a record, all its related child records are also locked.
            • Recalculate an Annual Emissions Inventory
              Recalculate your emissions inventory records when you update your data. When you recalculate an inventory record, all its related child records are also recalculated. The amount of time needed to recalculate depends on the number of records that you have in Net Zero Cloud. Salesforce recommends that you run a full recalculation overnight or on a weekend.
            • Inventory Calculations
              Net Zero Cloud aggregates emissions across a company’s assets and procurement activities for a year to provide the total annual emissions inventory. When you calculate an inventory, Net Zero Cloud uses the related carbon footprint records.
