Depending on your org’s customizations, the record owner can submit an approval request directly from the record. An approval process specifies each step of approval, including from whom to request approval and what to do at each point of the process. However, you can’t submit the Stationary Asset Carbon Footprint Item and Waste Footprint Item records for approval.

On the record detail page, click Submit for Approval.
To track where a record is in the approval process, view its Approval History related list.
