You are here:
Order Scope
Setting the technical product scope to Order creates a single instance of the technical product (Fulfillment Request Line) per order. But, unlike the Account scope, for every subsequent order that requests the same bundle, one inventory item fulfillment request per technical product is created.
For example, consider a scenario where one order contains a "shipping service" as the technical product (you want everything in the bundle order shipped together). But you also want each subsequent order to have its own shipping service for the technical product (you don't want to use the same shipping service). In this scenario, you'd give the shipping service the Order scope to ensure each subsequent order has one shipping service fulfillment request for each technical product.
Another scenario where you could use the Order scope is for order notifications. Regardless of how many items the order contains, you want just one notification to occur when the order is complete. And you want any other orders to have their own notification too. The Order scope is perfect for this type of scenario.
Note that with the Order scope, multiple assets will be linked to the same inventory item:
-
If one of the assets is disconnected or suspended, the inventory item will still remain Active because there are other active assets referring to it.
-
The inventory item will only be disconnected when the last asset referring to it is disconnected.
