Workflow for Creating a State Model, States, and Transitions
A State Model consists of references to a base object and States. A State Model Version consists of State Transitions, State Rules, and Actions. Here you'll learn how to create the State Model, States, and State Transitions using the Report Card State Model as an example. Later you'll learn how to create State Rules and Actions.
Before You Begin
Before you can create a State Model, you must create the object on which the State Model is based. See Workflow for Preparing the Base Object for a State Model.
When you create a State Model, the first State Model Version is created for you. The State Model Version contains State Transitions, State Transition Rules, and related Vlocity Actions. You can create additional versions. For example, you can create a new version to test rule or action changes while keeping the current version enabled for use.
The following diagram illustrates the states and the transitions between them in the Report Card State Model.
- Create the State Model.
- Create the State Model States.
- Understand the Important State Transition Settings.
- Create the State Transitions.
After you have created the State Model, States, and State Transitions, you are ready to proceed to the next task in the parent workflow. See Workflow for Creating State Transition Rules.
- Create the State Model
The first task is to create the Report Card State Model. - Create the State Model States
The names of the States must match the picklist values of the state field of the base object. - Important State Transition Settings
When creating State Transitions, it's important to specify default and alternate transitions and transition completion criteria. - Create the State Transitions
You create the default and alternate State Transitions for your State Model in the State Model Version.
