Migration Tools and Accelerators
Several tools are available to accelerate the migration from Salesforce CPQ to Revenue Management. These tools help with assessment, data extraction, migration automation, and validation. Keep in mind that tools don't replace human design decisions, particularly for custom logic and integration remapping.
Partner Migration Tools
These partners offer tools to support migration from Salesforce CPQ to Revenue Management. Salesforce has evaluated all of these tools.
Contact the partners directly for more information about these tools.
Migration Tool Capabilities
Migration tools can perform these tasks.
- Scan and document Salesforce CPQ org complexity, metadata, and data volumes.
- Automate extraction and migration of product catalog data, including products, bundles, attributes, and price books.
- Generate explainability reports for CPQ pricing rules, Quote Calculation Plug-ins (QCP) scripts, and custom logic.
- Run iterative migration in a sandbox with validation and reconciliation reporting.
- Assist with asset and subscription migration into the Customer Asset Lifecycle Management model.
Migration Tool Limitations
Migration tools don't support these tasks.
- Automatically migrate custom Apex code or QCP plug-ins, which requires reimplementation in Revenue Management concepts. Tools provide explainability reports to support the redesign process.
- Migrate integrations. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and billing integrations require a separate strategy.
- Migrate document templates or output documents.
- Migrate page layouts, permission sets, or custom fields without manual configuration.
Iterative Migration Process
Use this iterative process for all migration work, regardless of tooling.
- Scan your Salesforce CPQ org and document complexity, data volumes, and custom logic inventory.
- Determine the data categories to migrate, whether partial or full, and the sequence of migration.
- Map Salesforce CPQ objects to Revenue Management objects and document the migration logic for each field.
- Run the migration against a full-copy sandbox by using a representative sample dataset first. Validate end-to-end results, including data integrity, business logic, and integration touchpoints, before scaling to the full dataset. Review results and identify failures.
- Fix failed records, adjust migration logic, and rerun the logic against the sample dataset. After the sample dataset migrates successfully with end-to-end validation, scale to progressively larger datasets, testing at each increment. Run reconciliation checks for record counts, financial totals, and relationship integrity at each stage.
- Repeat these steps until the migration meets the satisfaction criteria. Apply your DevOps strategy to push validated data to production.
