Contracts may go through multiple iterations. Each time there is a change, a new version is recorded. Contract document operations can be performed on contract document versions.

          • Contract Creation
Contracts can be created from any standard or custom object.
          • Generate Contract Document Versions
When you create a new contract or modify an existing contract, you can create a new document by selecting a document template or by importing a pre existing document or by creating a document in Microsoft 365.
          • Create New Contract Document Versions
When a contract document has already been generated, you can generate a new contract document, using the same template or a different template.
          • Check In a Contract Document
If you checked out a contract document, you can check it in.
          • View Contract Documents
You can preview the contract document for any version of the document.
          • Lock and Unlock a Contract Document Version
To lock and unlock a contract document version, it must be active.
          • Attachments
The Contract Attachments allow you to upload, delete, search, and download the files from the list of attachments.
          • Retry Contract Document Generation
Salesforce Contracts allows you to retry or cancel the contract document generation if the generation is incomplete due to any failure or time-out issues in generating the document.
          • E-Signature Overview
Using electronic signature (e-signature), businesses can close deals and finalize transactions from anywhere in the world. e-signature integration empowers sales, commerce, and other business teams to prepare, edit, negotiate, manage and sign contracts electronically through the platform. Sales teams no longer need to wait to send, receive, sign, scan, and manually process the physical documents.
          • Document Clause Library
The Document Clause Library is a central repository of preapproved and prebuilt standardized template clauses that you can use to build contracts and other legal documents. Having all legal language in a single repository expedites document creation and enables the sales team to send out contracts without contacting the legal team for every deal.
          • Contract Authoring in Microsoft 365 Editor
You can add clauses from a clause library to simplify the contract authoring and editing process by making it easier to locate and add relevant clauses and to update the existing clauses.
          • Obligation Management
The Salesforce Contracts app has built-in obligation management capabilities. A contract can have one or more obligations associated with it. Salesforce recommends associating up to ten obligations per contract. Greater number of obligations could impact obligation processing time and notification management. Access the obligations associated with a contract from the contract’s record page or access all available obligations from the obligations object.
          • Comparing Contract Document Versions
Contract authors and users can compare a contract's current version with any of the previous versions to identify differences introduced during redlining. The contract comparison feature is available only if the contract document version has DOCX files. The compare feature highlights differences, ‌such as content modifications and table edits. You can generate the preview to review the differences. For larger documents, the preview generation can take longer, so you can download the document for an offline review. You can initiate a contract comparison from the contract’s record page or directly from the Microsoft 365 editor.
          • Search, Summarize, and Interact with Contracts Using AI
Use Contract Search with AI to query and analyze contract documents using natural language. You can view matching contracts, ask questions, summarize content, and preview or download contract documents.
