Update security settings in Salesforce.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter File Upload and Download Security.
- Click File Upload and Download Security.
- Click Edit.
- Select Hybrid or Execute in Browser for .docx and .pdf file types.
- Save your changes.

If you use Firefox, configure the browser-specific settings.
- In Firefox, open Settings.
- Click the General tab.
- Under Files and Applications, scroll to Applications.
- For the content type Portable Document Format (PDF), set the action to Open in Firefox.
