System Administration and Set Up for Salesforce Contracts
Depending on how you use Salesforce Contracts, you might need to perform additional tasks after installation, such as user licensing, contract state model and transition configuration, e-signature configuration, and configuration of core features.
- Create Contracts and Update Contracts
Contract admins can use context service or field mappings to create and update contracts from standard or custom objects. Salesforce Contracts recommends that you use the Context Service framework to create and update contracts from objects. - Contract Types, Contract Record Types, and Contract Type Configs
When you enable the ContractManagement license, the contract object has additional contract lifecycle management capabilities. The Salesforce Contracts application creates a default contract type, record type, and contract type configurations. - Contract Type Config Settings
Contract Type Config settings are applicable only for licensed Contract Lifecycle Management. Contract Lifecycle Management provides a default set of contract type configuration settings such as, specifying the contract document attachment formats when a contract is automatically created from an object, or indicating if a default document template is automatically associated with the contract document when a contract is updated or created. - State Models, State Transitions, and Actions
Use State Models (Object State Definitions) to define multiple stages, and transitions between states in your Salesforce object’s lifecycle. For example, you can define that a contract moves from Draft to In Approval or from Activated to Contract Terminated. The default object state definition for a contract applies only to Salesforce Contracts. You can also create custom state models and state transitions for Salesforce Contracts. - Use Custom Document Template Filtering
Using custom logic, you can filter the templates you want to display for a contract. You can configure a filtering class for each contract type. Only the set of templates that match the custom logic displays in the templates dropdown under the generate action in the Documents tab of a contract. - Contract Approval Workflow
You must set up a contract approval workflow so that you can send your draft contract to your internal stakeholders such as managers, and the legal team for review. The approval workflow triggers when your contract is in a draft state and you click on Submit for Approval action. The Salesforce Contracts application verifies the list of approvers and automatically initiates the approval request notification via email based on configuration. - View 'Is Associated With CLM'
The Is Associated With CLM field is associated with the Contract object. It indicates whether the contract record is created using the Salesforce Contracts application. The Is Associated With CLM field is automatically enabled when you create, import, or check out a contract document version from UI or using APIs. - Configure Document Generation Notification
You can notify your users with timely email and in-app notifications for server-side document generation. In-app notifications are available by default and you can enable or disable the email notifications. - Set Up Salesforce Contracts Partner Community User
Perform these tasks to set up the partner user in Salesforce Contracts. - Set Up Salesforce Contracts Customer Community Plus User
Tasks to set up the customer community plus user in Salesforce Contracts. - Configure E-Signature
System admin must integrate DocuSign with Salesforce Contracts for users to be able to email a copy of the document to sign at the recipient's convenience. - Configure Clause Category
When creating a clause set, to categorize your clauses, select the category for the clause set. In Setup, the system admin defines the clause categories for clauses. - Clause Approval Workflow
Set up a clause approval workflow to send your draft clause for approval to your internal stakeholders, such as managers, and the legal team. The Submit for Approval action triggers the approval workflow. Salesforce verifies the list of approvers and automatically initiates the approval request notification via email, based on configuration. - Create a Custom Report Type and Clause History Report
To run reports on clauses, you must create a custom report type with the Document Authored Content object. The report type determines the records and fields that appear in your report. Use the record type to capture the metadata for clauses and sections within documents. Add relevant fields from the related records, such as contracts, clauses, and clause sets to customize the report layout. Finally, build a report by using this custom report type for a detailed analysis of the clause metadata in your contracts. - Enable Salesforce Contracts Console App
From Setup, the Salesforce admin has to make the Salesforce Contracts Console App visible for profiles. Users can then access the app from the App Launcher. - Ways to Set Up Microsoft 365 and Azure Integration with Salesforce
Salesforce recommends using guided setup to integrate Microsoft 365 and Azure. Guided Setup provides a step-by-step, automated process that simplifies configuration and reduces errors. If you want to set up the integration manually, use the manual setup to configure each step with minimum privileges. - Considerations When Migrating Microsoft 365 Word Templates Across Environments
When you move Microsoft 365 document templates between Salesforce orgs, such as from a sandbox to a production org, the structure, clause relationships, and section-level access controls are preserved. Before migrating a template, keep these considerations in mind. - Obligation Management Configuration
Achieve compliance, fulfill contractual commitments, and proactively mitigate risks by using the Obligation Management feature in Salesforce Contracts. - General Settings for Document Generation
Understand the impact of the general setting options you select for the document generation users in your organization. - Design and Configure Document Templates for Salesforce Contracts
Use Design Document Template to create DOCX, PPT, and Microsoft 365 Word templates in Salesforce. You can export document templates from a source organization and import them into target organization. - Set Up Contracts AI
Enable generative AI settings and set up use case configurations to activate the standard action flows that extract and generate clauses from your contract. - Create Contract Type Config to Compare Contract Versions
To enable existing customers to compare contract versions, create the Compare Contract Versions Enabled setting in the contract type configuration and set its value to Yes. For new customers, this setting is pre-configured, but its default value is set to No. You must set it to Yes to compare contract versions. - Configure Private Online External Review
CLM admin must complete a few configurations so that contract authors can initiate private online external reviews. It includes creating a Digital Experience site, setting up a contract-type config setting for external review, and enabling the external review feature from the Microsoft 365 and Azure Integration guided setup. - Configure Contract Search
If you need fast, reliable answers buried in thousands of contract documents, configure contract search. Ask a question in natural language and get the most relevant search results and AI-generated summaries.
