Set Up Promotions
A promotion is a marketing and communication activity that boosts a product’s sales volume and revenue, and thereby helps enhance the brand’s long-term value.

A promotion is anchored on a customer or customer set, whereas an event doesn't have an anchor. Typically, events that define important public events or holidays are either country-specific or region-specific and act as reference points for other promotions.
With Trade Promotion Management, your marketing and sales teams and key account managers (KAMs) can plan, execute, and monitor your promotion plans. The application allows you to create and maintain promotion templates that act as blueprints for creating different promotions categories.

Trade strategies and brand-specific priorities include guidance on distribution, shelf merchandising, and pricing that supports the account-level planning process. - Promotion Templates
Promotion templates determine the type of promotion that your key account manager (KAM) wants to create. Before a KAM creates a promotion, a business admin must create the promotion template. The KAM can then use the template to create multiple promotions. - Tactic Templates
A tactic describes an action or procedure as a step while executing a promotion. Tactics are executable parts of promotions and the lowest items that you can implement within a campaign. - Condition Templates
Use condition templates to define customer conditions, product conditions, or customer-specific product conditions. The conditions can be saved for various combinations of products, customers, measure codes, and time frames. - Calculate Parent and Child Promotions
The system calculates the KPIs of child promotions based on the KPI configuration of the child promotion KPI set. After all the child promotions are calculated, the system calculates the parent promotion by aggregating the KPI values of child promotions. - Promotion Screen Configuration
To view only the fields you work with, you can configure the Advanced Promotion page. - Enable Promotion Data Download
Key account managers can download promotion data as CSV files when you add the Download button in the Promotion P&L grid. - Add Interactive Dashboards to Your Promotions
Add an interactive dashboard to a promotion’s edit page to see interactive visualizations of your promotion's displayed data and related records. - Calculate Promotions
The system calculates promotions by using a nightly batch process (batch calculation). - Long-Term Agreements
A Long Term Agreement (LTA) is a contract between a manufacturer and a retailer over an extended period. - Promotion Sharing
With the general object-level security on the Promotion object, users with certain roles can access all the promotions and associated products. The promotion sharing feature, via APEX classes and triggers, gives a declarative approach to determine the promotion records shared with a user and the product categories available for a user while adding, editing, or updating the promotion products. - TPM Promotion Integration with RE
Seamlessly integrate and run your planned Trade Promotion Management (TPM) promotions as sellable promotions in Retail Execution (RE). The system automatically recreates a sellable promotion in RE when TPM promotions are marked as transferrable (Is Transfer Relevant as Yes in the promotion template). Transfer promotions asynchronously through the triggers on the user interface or transfer the promotions in bulk through a batch process. Plan and automatically transfer TPM promotions to RE in a specific phase. - Promotion API
Use the Promotion API to create promotions and load mass promotions from outside the system. A transformation Apex engine in Processing Services transforms a simple JSON structure into BO (Business Object) JSON structure by applying Business Object API Workflow Steps. The configuration for the BO API is given through Business Object API Workflows. - Understanding How KPIs are Calculated when Tactic Costs are Updated Manually
To ensure that the total values of lump sum tactic costs (at different levels of planning hierarchy) are changed only through manual inputs, and not through the nightly batch updates, keep the total value of a KPI distribution fixed by selecting the Fixed Totals option when you configure the KPI. - Push a National Promotion
You can push promotions that are anchored to a customer at a higher level of the customer hierarchy to the customers at the lower planning levels. You can also create promotions for a customer set and then push them to the customers that the customer set contains. - Create a Promotion
Use an active promotion template to create a promotion. Based on the tactics you assign to a promotion, the system assigns the promoted products and other details, such as product description, product quantity, and promoted price, related to the tactic to the promotion. You can also create a promotion from the Trade Calendar view. - Copy a Promotion
Copy a promotion to easily create promotions. When you define a promotion hierarchy, select the components that are transferred to a child promotion when a promotion is copied. In the promotion hierarchy, if you selected Manual Inputs as one of the components to be copied, then any manually adjusted data for periods, such as weeks, months, and quarters, gets copied to the new promotion. - Derive Promotions
Derive a promotion to reuse a promotion to speed up the process of creating promotions. Deriving a promotion in Salesforce involves a structured process where the system automatically determines crucial dates and copies specific components from the source promotion. - Download Promotion Data
You can download promotion data if your admin enables the Download button for promotions. - Delete a Promotion
Delete a promotion for an account permanently with all references to products and tactics. - Close a Promotion
Manually close promotions when no further changes, claims, or actuals are expected. - Freeze or Unfreeze Promotions
When the Product Definition Policy of a promotion includes Dynamic, the system uses filters to determine promotion products. This means that the products included in the promotion change dynamically with any change in the master data, such as a change in the product hierarchy or a change in the KAM status of any product. - Mass Copy Promotions
Mass copy promotions to reduce the effort and time involved, minimize errors, and increase the efficiency and accuracy of the planning process. - Tactic Funds
Tactic funds are funds that allocate money to a tactic. Tactic funds prepare key values that enable proper calculation, storage, and visibility of fund-specific metrics. - Prevent a Promotion from Being Deleted
You can lock a promotion to prevent it from being permanently removed by configuring the promotion lock status setting. Define the phases in which promotions are locked for deletion. By default, the Committed and For Approval statuses are locked. - Translate Promotion Breadcrumbs for Building Blocks
Translate promotion breadcrumbs for building blocks to show building blocks that don’t have the word Promotion in the label. You can translate the labels in the breadcrumbs in Promotion Detail and Promotion P&L.
