Calculating KPI Values
Here’s how KPI values are calculated.
- The total values at product level are calculated using the KPI’s total calculation rule, which is set to Avg.
- The weekly values are aggregated to the tactic and KPI levels using the KPI’s aggregation rule, which is set to Sum.
- The total values are calculated by applying the aggregation rule to the total values at the product level.
| KPI | Total | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sample KPI | 200 | 170 | 20 | 210 |
| Tactic 1 | 50 | 40 | 20 | 40 |
| Product 1 | 15 | 10 | 20 | - |
| Product 2 | 35 | 30 | - | 40 |
| Tactic 2 | 150 | 130 | - | 170 |
| Product 2 | 75 | 60 | - | 90 |
| Product 3 | 75 | 70 | - | 80 |
Effects of Time Granularity The Base Revenue KPI is configured in three
different ways to show how time granularity and the total calculation rule affects the
calculation.
| KPI | Time Granularity | KPI Type | Merge Rule | Total Calculation Rule | Formula |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Baseline | subperiod | Read | Sum | Sum | — |
| Base Price | subperiod | Read | Average | Average | — |
| Base Revenue 1 | subperiod | Calculated | Sum | Sum | Baseline × Base Price |
| Base Revenue 2 | subperiod | Calculated | Sum | Formula | Baseline × Base Price |
| Base Revenue 3 | Period | Calculated | — | Sum | Baseline × Base Price |
In this table, week 1 is divided into four subperiods, and week 2 is divided in to two subperiods.

Here’s how base revenue is calculated based on the KPI configuration.
| KPI | Week 1 | Week 2 | Total | Comments | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base Revenue 1 | 190 | 200 | 190 + 200 = 390 |

| Base Revenue 2 | 190 | 200 | 250 × 1.625 = 406.25 | The value is calculated by applying the formula on the total values of the referenced KPIs. | ||||
| 10 | 20 | 80 | 80 | 100 | 100 | |||
| Base Revenue 3 | 150 × 1.25 = 187.5 (Baseline for Week 1 × Base Price for Week 1) | 100 × 2 = 200 (Baseline for Week 2 × Base Price for Week 2 | 187.5 + 200 = 387.5 |
