          Trade Promotion Management Accrual Engine

          Track and settle promotion liabilities as they’re incurred, rather than when claims are made. An anticipated expense is accrued when the promotion runs because claims can be submitted weeks or months later. This makes sure that expenses are matched to the revenue and volume they generate in the same financial period, providing a more accurate view of your accounts.

          Accruals Process in Trade Promotion Management

          Step Description
          Plan and approve the promotion. Promotions are created by using standardized templates that include predefined accrual rules and closure settings configured by the admin. After it is finalized, the promotion is submitted for approval.
          Accrue the liability, which Salesforce calculates after approval. After the promotion is approved, a scheduled process initiates calculations for accruals in Data Cloud by using the logic defined in the tactic template.
          Prepare accruals data for financial reporting Data Cloud calculates the accrual data. Extract this data and load it into your financial systems for accounting and reporting.
          Receive and settle customer claims against accrued amounts. Customer claims are received against the accrued amounts. Admins can enforce overspend checks to make sure that claims don’t exceed predefined amounts.
          Adjust accruals data based on claims or user changes. The system adjusts accruals based on settled claims or manual adjustments and updates.
          Close the promotion and finalize accruals. The promotion is closed either manually by a user or automatically based on template settings. Closing the promotion sets the final balance to zero.

            The claim overspent check prevents scenarios where the amount paid for a tactic surpasses the accrued amount. This validation helps make sure that claims don't exceed the amount earned through promotional activities.
          • Close a Promotion
            To finalize accrual calculations and lock all related records, close promotions. You can close promotions either manually or automatically by scheduling a batch process. When a promotion is closed, the system generates a KPI Definitions snapshot file and attaches the file to the promotion record.
