You are here:
Create a Product Hierarchy
Create a hierarchy to organize your product offerings.
- Create a Product Template
A product template segregates your products by sales organization. When you create a product using a product template, the product is available only in the sales organization that the template is assigned to. Create at least two product templates for your sales organization: one for products and the other for product groups. Product Groups are also Product2 records. - Create a Product
A product can be an item that you sell or don’t sell, such as advertising material or a competitor’s product. When you create a product or product group, assign its product level to determine its placement within the product hierarchy, and include all necessary information for filtering, fund allocation, and promotion planning. - Update Product Levels
You can change the labels in the product level picklist, which is used when you create or edit a product or product group. - Translate the Product Level Picklist Labels
Translate the labels for the product level picklist, which is used when you create or edit a product or product group. - Map the Hierarchy Levels to the Criterion Information Fields
Map the hierarchy levels to the criterion fields in the product or product group, or to a custom unmanaged field if additional levels are added. For example, you can insert a new level between Sub-Category and Brand, and store the product value in Criterion_6_Product__c. - Assign a Parent to a Product
To manage the hierarchical relationships between different product and product group nodes, assign parents to the product and product group nodes. Generally, the product hierarchy information is fetched from an ERP system to the product hierarchy object, but you can also manually define the parent for products and product groups. When you assign a parent, specify the time period for which the relationship is valid.
