Creating a New Version of a Contract Document
You click Generate to generate the first version of a contract document. When a contract document has already been generated, you can generate a new contract document, using the same template or a different template. The new generated contract document reflects changes to the contract data and template.
To regenerate the contract document for another version, click Checkout to Generate. Vlocity CLM generates a new version of the contract document and locks it, so other users cannot modify the document version at the same time.
To create a new version of a contract document:
- On the Contract record detail page, expand the Contract Documents Visualforce page.
- Expand the contract document version to generate.

Click Check Out to Generate.
You receive a message indicating that Vlocity CLM will create a new version of the contract document.
- Click Continue.

Select a document template to use to generate the contract.
You can select an active document template from which to generate the contract document. Vlocity CLM creates a new version of the contract document and locks it. Vlocity CLM generates contract document sections by applying conditional logic to the selected template and substituting variables.
NoteSalesforce Industries Communications, Media, and Energy Winter '18, Minor release, Version 101.2.900.151 users: Microsoft PowerPoint templates do not appear in the list of templates for contract documents. You can use Microsoft Word templates or Vlocity Web Templates for contracts.
- Click Check In to convert the document to Microsoft Word, PDF, or both, and attach the contract document to the latest version.
