          Object Model Types

This topic explains the types of objects described in the object list for each vertical application.

          Data Objects

          Types of data objects are:

          • Master data objects contain master data which serves as reference data for the transactions tracked about the business. Master objects contain business data. Customer data is the most obvious example of master data.

          • Transactional data objects contain the business data that tracks the transactions that occur in the course of doing business. Campaigns, opportunities, quotes, orders, activities and cases are all transactional objects.

          • Setup data objects contain reference or master data that defines the business of the deploying company, for example: products, prices, profile attributes, and template activities. Setup data might be shipped from Vlocity to a customer to expedite the setup process. To configure the software and data for their business, companies then customize the setup data in sandbox environments, test it, and migrate it into test and production orgs.

          • Setup/transactional data objects store a mix of setup and transactional data.

          • Setup/master data objects store a mix of setup and master data.

          • Local copy data objects store a copy of (typically transactional) data that is mastered in another system. The source system is considered the source of truth for this data. The copy is stored to support certain business processes without requiring continuous connectivity to the source system. These objects can be replaced by Lightning Connect External Objects, custom objects, or other means that get the data directly from the source system.

          Other Object Types

          Other object types are:

          • Interface objects: Objects used to stage data such as DataRaptor definitions or to bulk-import and bulk-export business object data.

          • System objects: Objects used by Vlocity software for internal purposes and logging.

          • Deprecated objects: Objects that were introduced in earlier versions of Vlocity software and are no longer in use.
