Enable Transcription of Virtual Calls
Virtual Calls use Amazon Transcribe or Amazon Transcribe Medical to provide real-time audio transcriptions. These text captions can be displayed in the video interface to improve accessibility.
This feature requires Amazon Transcribe, an AWS service that converts speech-to-text for many languages. Visit the Amazon Transcribe website for information and pricing. You pay-as-you-go based on the seconds of audio transcribed per month. Amazon Transcribe Medical, which accurately translates medical speech, is also supported, but only for US English.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Video, and then select Video Call Configuration.
- Click New Video Call Configuration or Edit next to an existing configuration.
- Skip the Storage Bucket Name field, it is currently not used.
-
Choose the Speech Analysis Service type.
Transcribe Medical currently is only supported for US English.
- Save your changes.
During the video call, click the transcription icon to see real-time text-to-speech transcription at the bottom of the video interface.
