Connect Marketing Cloud Intelligence with Tableau
Connect Marketing Cloud Intelligence with Tableau to easily query your data. With the Marketing Cloud Intelligence Tableau integration, you get harmonization capabilities with Intelligence’s ETL solution and Tableau’s advanced visualization tools.
You can connect your data from Marketing Cloud Intelligence to Tableau in two ways:
- Marketing Cloud Intelligence integration with Tableau (push method)
- Marketing Cloud Intelligence connector in Tableau (pull method)
Here’s a comparison of the two methods looking at which features are available:
| Features | Marketing Cloud Intelligence Integration with Tableau | Marketing Cloud Intelligence Connector in Tableau |
|---|---|---|
| Supported Tableau versions | Tableau Server 2019.2 and later Tableau Online fully supported Tableau Desktop 10.5 and later |
Tableau Server 2020.3 and later Tableau Online fully supported Tableau Desktop 2020.3 and later |
| Managing exposure of Tableau views | Inside Marketing Cloud Intelligence, and you can define which views are sent to each location. | You can’t manage views because the token is at the workspace level. All views are available to all users in the workspace. |
| Configuration | Inside Marketing Cloud Intelligence you can define where and what to send to Tableau, which server you want to use, frequency, and so on. | All configuration is inside Tableau, except for view refresh configuration. |
| Field setup | Inside Marketing Cloud Intelligence by an admin. | Inside Tableau by a Tableau creator. |
Known Issues:
- To prevent data source failures, all Tableau reports have unique names.
- You can add or remove dimensions and measurements in reports that are part of an existing Tableau data source. However, changing names of dimensions and measurements that are part of a data source can cause processing failures.
- If your Tableau Server instance is protected for external applications, ask your team to allow the following IPs according to your Marketing Cloud Intelligence environment.
| platform.datorama.com (AWS US) | platform-eu.datorama.com (AWS EU) | platform-us2.datorama.com (AZURE US) | platform-eu2.datorama.com (AZURE EU) |
