Granular Data Center in Marketing Cloud Intelligence

Granular Data Center in Marketing Cloud Intelligence

Granular Data Center is a premium feature designed for ingesting raw data into the system. Due to this data’s granularity, row count can be hundreds of millions or even billions of rows. As opposed to other data stream types, usage and pricing don’t go by the row count but rather by terabytes of storage space. Some examples of data types that work best with Granular Data Center data streams are keyword level data, event level data, log data, and granular geodata.

Granular Data Center data streams create correlating tables of data pertaining to a workspace.

All data stored in the Granular Data Center is fully compliant with GDPR requirements and regulations.

The Granular Data Center is a premium feature. If you’re interested in purchasing, contact a Marketing Cloud Intelligence representative.

If the Granular Data Center add-on is deprovisioned from an account, the following happens.

          • The Granular Data Center tab in the left pane doesn’t appear anymore.
            Note
Note System admins and above can still access the Granular Data Center for 90 days after disabling the checkbox. After the 90 days are over, they can’t access it anymore.
          • Granular Data Center data streams and retrievals from the Granular Data Center stop running and fail.
          • Queries of the Granular Data Center data (from reports, widgets, or via API, including scheduled) stop and fail.
            Note
Note System admins and above can still run SQL queries and exports for 90 days. After 90 days, all Granular Data Center data streams are automatically deleted and all data is deleted.

When retrieving Granular Data Center data, be aware of these timeout limits:

          • Direct retrievals - 1 hour
          • SFMC granular data extensions - 2 hours
          • Retrieval from Granular Data Center into Granular Data Center - 40 minutes with a builder query, 1 hour with SQL query
          • DB retrievals - 30 minutes
          • Enable the Granular Data Center in a Workspace
Purchasing the Granular Data Center automatically enables it in the account. However, an admin must enable it in the workspace. If it isn’t enabled, the Granular Data Center tab doesn’t appear.
          • View Granular Data Center Data
The Granular Data Center landing page summarizes all the Granular Data Center data streams created in that workspace. View and manage ingested data, aggregations, extracted data, share data streams, create queries, and more all from one main location.
          • Granular Data Center Data Stream Creation
Create a Granular Data Center data stream to ingest granular data, such as event level or keyword level data.
          • Mapping Granular Data Center Data
If you uploaded a file or used a technical vendor to create a Granular Data Center data stream, you’re redirected to a mapping preview screen. Here you can verify that your data has been identified correctly, change mapping, add mapping formulas, and more. When data is uploaded to a Granular Data Center data stream, a table is created. The table is dynamic according to the type of loaded data. The type affects the data load options and behavior.
          • Querying Granular Data Centers
Query your Granular Data Centers to pull data from your workspace. You can also query a Granular Data Center in another workspace through sharing. You can create a query manually with an SQL editor or use the Query Builder for an all-click-no-code option. Convert a query from the query builder into SQL to build onto the existing query or to better understand the parameters.
          • Visualizing Granular Data Center Data
The Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD) displays a visual representation of all the tables and connections between specific dimensions from within these tables. Each block represents an existing table and contains a list of all the fields available within the table. The lines connecting tables also depict connections between specific dimensions from the connected tables.
          • Sharing Granular Data Centers
You can share a Granular Data Center if it contains data that is relevant to other workspaces in the same account.
          • Deleting Data from a Granular Data Center
To facilitate compliance with various data protection and privacy regulations, you can delete data from a Granular Data Center.
