Google Analytics Custom API Connector in Marketing Cloud Intelligence
Use the Google Analytics Custom API connector to retrieve custom dimensions and metrics. Use custom dimensions to collect and analyze data that Google Analytics doesn’t automatically track. You can combine Analytics data with non-Analytics data using the custom connector. Google Analytics Custom is a web analytics channel connector, and the data lagging is one day.
Additional information on the Google Analytics Custom connector:
- Google Analytics Custom supports Google Analytics 4 properties.
- You can use theAPI connector when creating a Granular Data Center.
- When the number of sessions exceeds 500,000, Google Analytics bases its reports on a sample of the data. For maximum accuracy, Marketing Cloud Intelligence uses Higher Precision settings when retrieving data from Google Analytics.
- The Google Analytics Custom connector doesn’t support data with transformers, which affects its ability to retrieve goals data. This type of data requires transposing because the goal dimension (referred to in the platform as tag/goal) isn’t available in the core API. Goal data in the regular Google Analytics connector is retrieved using a series of actions that are applied in the background, including accessing a source in addition to the Google Analytics API. These actions can’t be executed as part of the custom connector. Instead, you can use a scheduled report from Google Analytics that contains the data you need and upload it using the TotalConnect connector.
- According to the specifications of the Google Analytics API, the Google Analytics Custom connector can bring in a maximum of seven dimensions and nine measurements.
- Create a Google Analytics Custom Data Stream in Marketing Cloud Intelligence
To create and manage Google Analytics custom reports, create a Google Analytics custom data stream.
