Google Campaign Manager Custom API Connector
Google Campaign Manager Custom, is a web-based ad management system for advertisers and agencies, which helps you manage digital campaigns across websites and mobile platforms.
Google Campaign Manager Custom API connector allows you to retrieve a custom set of Measurements and Dimensions from the Google Campaign Manager API into Marketing Cloud Intelligence. The Google Campaign Manager Custom API connector enables the retrieval of Measurements that aren’t available through the standard API, such as fields from the Floodlight Report, Landing Page URL, Dynamic Elements, etc.
- Channel: Display
- Data Stream Type:
- Ads
- Conversion Tag
- Conversion Tag with Keywords
- Generic
- Search Keywords
- Data Lag: 1 day
Details
- Removed entities aren’t retrieved by the API.
- Multiple Advertisers are retrieved in a single Data Stream.
- If you’re defining a Reach report you must select the Advertiser Dimension (both in the Google platform and Intelligence API).
- Due to limitations on the provider’s end, Google Campaign Manager Floodlight Reports can only be retrieved up to 62 days back.
- If you’re defining a Floodlight report you must make sure you have a Floodlight CID, see the following for more information.
- To create a Dimension only Data Stream, you must do the following: select at least one Measurement in the Fields section under the General section and select the Only Update Dimensions checkbox under the Advanced Settings section. Otherwise, if only Dimensions are selected without a Measurement and without checking the checkbox, the Data Stream will fail.
- This connector doesn’t support fetching floodlight variables. If you require floodlight variable consumption use a TotalConnect data stream instead. For more information, see Create a Data Stream with TotalConnect in Marketing Cloud Intelligence.
General Setup
After an Account is selected, choose the Report Type you want to retrieve. The following Report Types are available:
- Floodlight
- If your Floodlight ID isn’t shared between different advertisers, then you must make sure your Floodlight CID is the same as the Advertiser's ID to avoid any issues. For more information about Floodlight IDs and configurations, visit Google Support.
- Reach
- Standard
After you’ve selected the relevant Report Type, select the fields you want to retrieve from the dropdown.
Extended Properties
- Data Stream Type - Select one of the available Data Stream Types you want to map your data
to. You can only select one type of Data Stream Type in any given Google Campaign Manager
Custom API Data Stream. You can map into the following Data Stream Types:
- Ads
- Conversion Tag
- Conversion Tag with Keywords
- Generic
- Search Keywords
- Advertisers - Insert the Advertiser IDs you want to retrieve, separated by a comma. If you want to retrieve all Advertisers, then leave this box empty. Note: Retrieving many Advertisers could create a large amount of data and cause a timeout. If this happens, reduce the number of Advertisers per data stream.
- Floodlight Configuration ID - Insert the Floodlight ID for which you want to retrieve data. This field is mandatory if you want to retrieve the Floodlight report.
Known Issues
- Because the Floodlight Report is a large report, it can take longer to process. Selecting many fields or a larger date-range can result in the query timing out and displaying an error such as: "Provider Report Timeout in the Data Stream Log".
- If you have large amounts of data, break it down into smaller retrievals, either by selecting smaller groups of Dimensions or by reducing the Statistic Span days. Contact Support if you want to implement this.
How to QA Your Data
- Create the desired report in the Google Campaign Manager platform for the required date range.
- Next, process the relevant Data Stream in Marketing Cloud Intelligence for the same date range.
- Create a Report/Table Widget/Pivot Table within Intelligence containing the exact same Dimensions and Measurements for the same report and date range.
- Compare the Measurement Totals and make sure they’re aligned.
