          Google Search Console API Connector

Google Search Console is a free service offered by Google that helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site's presence in Google Search results.

          • Channel: Search
          • Data Stream Type: Web Analytics
          • Data Lag: 3 days

          Prerequisites

To connect to Google Search Console, you need a valid username and password with access to a Google Search Console account.

          Details

          • There can be a discrepancy in Total values when querying the Top Results entity. This is because the Google Search Console only displays 1000 results in their platform, whereas Marketing Cloud Intelligence retrieves all results. The value per row will be identical, but the Total value could be different.
          • The sliding window for the Google Search Console API connector is 3.
          • Click here to learn about the differences in methodology used to calculate the Query Report (site aggregation) vs. the Page Report.

          General Setup

After entering your credentials, select the relevant website you want to retrieve data for.

          Extended Properties

          • Breakdown- Select one of the available options to add further breakdowns to the data retrieved by the API, resulting in a higher level of granularity on which the Measurements can be sliced. The following Breakdowns are available when pulling data from the Google Search Console, besides the standard data being pulled:
            • Country - Select to pull country data and add the Dimension ‘Country’ to the dataset.
            • Device - Select to pull device data and add the Dimension ‘Device’ to the dataset.
            • Device & Country - Select to pull both Country and Device data and add the Dimensions ‘Country’ and ‘Device’ to the dataset.
          • Report Entity- Select the entities you want to display your data by. The following options are available:
            • Page and Query - Display your data by both your page and query entities.
            • Page - Display your data by your page entities.
            • Query - Display your data by your query entities.
            • None - Display your data not aggregated by any reporting entity.

          QA Your Data

          • Create the desired report in the Google Search Console platform for the required date.
          • Next, process the relevant Data Stream in Marketing Cloud Intelligence for the same date range.
          • Create a Report/Table Widget/Pivot Table within Intelligence containing the exact same Dimensions and Measurements for the same report and date range.
          • Compare the Measurement Totals and make sure they’re aligned.
