Social Studio API Connector
Salesforce Social Studio is a Management Center and Social Listening Platform for owned social accounts on popular social networks, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+. It’s also a platform for Social Listening.
- Channel: Social, Social Listening
- Data Stream Type: Social Objects, Social Listening
- Data Lagging: 0 Days
Prerequisites
To connect to Salesforce Social Studio, you need a valid username and password.
Details
- The connector shows LIFETIME type Measurements. LIFETIME Measurements display the accumulated value of the Measurement as of the current date.
- When a Salesforce Social Studio Data Stream is created, all posts from the Creation Date of your Social Accounts are retrieved. Topic Profiles allows reports to be exported up to 90 days back, while Managed Accounts pulls all available posts - including those that were created further back than 90 days.
- Entries in the Data Stream Log appear under the processing date of the extraction date (‘Today’).
- When processing the Data Stream, there’s no date selection, as all data for all posts is retrieved until today and assigned a date value that is identical to the day of processing.
- Measurement data retrieved for all posts is accurate as of the date when processing takes place.
- In order to prevent potential data inaccuracies, Data Streams in LIFETIME Aggregation don’t allow for any failed retrievals to be reprocessed post-failure. For example, if a Data Stream retrieval failed on January 1, 2019 at 8 AM, a minute later the data will be updated and refreshed, and the data available for retrieval on the platform will no longer reflect what was attempted to be retrieved a minute prior. Reprocessing the failed retrieval on January 2 would mean that the data didn’t exist in the platform on January 1 and therefore would be attributed to January 1. This would be a misrepresentation and could lead to serious inaccuracies.
- Because of the nature of LIFETIME Measurements, after data is deleted from a Salesforce Social Studio Data Stream, the deleted data is not accessible for retrieval through reprocessing.
- In order to reprocess data retrieved in the past without actually deleting any data - for example, to accommodate changes in mapping - the Re-Run Files option can be used, which is located under the ‘Log’ button in the Data Streams Management menu.
General Setup
After a Workspace is selected, you can choose to retrieve a single or several Accounts and Topics. Leave the field empty to retrieve all Accounts and Topics. Social listening data contains a high amount of data by nature, therefore retrieving many Topics could cause the Data Stream to timeout. If this happens, try reducing the number of Topics per Data Stream.
Advanced Settings
This section allows you to define advanced settings for your API connector. The settings are the same for all API connectors.
Known Issues
Due to Twitter's legal limitations that block the transfer of Twitter posts to third party applications, certain Twitter Dimensions aren’t retrieved by Marketing Cloud Intelligence. Nevertheless, Measurements associated with these posts will be retrieved.

Salesforce Social Studio Topic Profiles allows reports to be exported up to 90 days back, while Marketing Cloud Intelligence pulls all available posts – including those that were created further back than 90 days. So, when you compare Measurement Totals between Salesforce Topic Profiles and Intelligence, either compare specific posts, or make sure you’re looking at the same date range.
