Archiving in Marketing Cloud Intelligence
If you have a lot of data that you no longer use but want to keep, you can archive it . You can pull up archived data from previous time periods to use in reports.
Archiving is based on a time window in which data is available to the user (called hot data). Data prior to the time window (called cold data) is archived and isn’t available in queries. For example, if you set a time window of 730 days, data from over two years ago is archived.
How Does Archiving Affect Data?
With the exception of reports, archived data isn’t available in queries on the platform or through the Marketing Cloud Intelligence API.
Updating archived data via data streams is available for a limited number of uploads per day. Updating occurs automatically when the data stream contains the relevant dates. When the workspace exceeds the number of uploads allowed, it stops updating it until the next day.
The archiving window looks for the actual date range, not the processing date range. Therefore, you can’t include additional filters. Dates above the time window are disabled. For example, if your archiving window is defined as 365 days, and today’s date is 1/1/2020, you can’t choose dates before 1/1/2019.
When your archived data reaches the limit for the workspace, the data streams that are trying to update archived data fail. Data streams that are updating hot data work as expected.
- Include Archived Data in a Report
If you’re an Admin, you can run reports to retrieve archived data.
