Enhanced Dynamic Content
Enhanced Dynamic Content lets you import into Content Builder a delimited file containing text and image URLs to create enhanced dynamic content for emails.
Instead of using AMPscript and data extensions to manually create complex dynamic content and the rules for each variation, the system creates the content from the data in your import file. The columns in the import file contain the names of the enhanced dynamic content assets, and the rows contain the content variations for each asset. Content Builder saves the assets as Enhanced Dynamic Content Maps in the content library that you can use as blocks in emails and templates. You can link your enhanced dynamic content to an audience during the import or while adding the blocks to an email or template.
Import Flow
Select Enhanced Dynamic Content in the Create menu to launch the four-step import flow.
- File Upload - Upload your file and select comma, semicolon, or tab as your delimiter. Choose whether to respect double quotes as a text qualifier.
- Data Preparation - Select which column to use as primary key. Optionally edit the names
for each enhanced dynamic asset. Select the type of content for each column:
- Text
- Image
- Exclude this column
- Audience - Choose whether to link your import file’s primary key to a column in an audience data extension or profile attribute. You can also configure this link in the editor during message creation.
- Review - Review the settings from previous steps, view a five-row summary of your data, and select the folder location for your enhanced dynamic content.
See Enhanced Dynamic Content Import File to prepare your import file.
Editor Flow
You can add enhanced dynamic content to content areas of emails and templates from the Blocks or the Editor tab in the editor.
- Blocks Tab - Drag the Enhanced Dynamic Content block in a content area, then select the enhanced dynamic content from the content library. You can change your audience source and column, view content variations, and configure block settings.
- Content Tab - Drag enhanced dynamic content in a content area. You can change your audience source and column, view content variations, and configure block settings.
If you change the audience in the editor and want to save it as a block, select Create New from the Save Block button menu, then name and save the block. You can only select Update Existing after saving the enhanced dynamic content as a block.
To edit the images and text in your enhanced dynamic content, open the map asset from the content library and click Edit. Click Edit in the variation you want to edit, make your changes, and click Done Editing. Editing an enhanced dynamic content map affects all blocks using it.
