          Build an Email from a Template in Content Builder

          Use Content Builder to create an email from a template.

          1. In Content Builder, click Create and select Email Message.
            Note
            Note The code shown in the Code View section of a template-based email is locked and can't be copied. To copy code, select the code, right-click, and then select Create Code Snippet. You can also select Save as Template from the Save button menu, which allows you to copy the code or edit the code directly in the Code View editor.
          2. Select a template from the Template dropdown and click Select.
          3. To add content, name your email and click Next.
          4. From the Blocks tab, drag content blocks to content areas in the editor.
          5. From the Content tab, drag saved content to content areas in the editor.
          6. To view and update the email received by subscribers whose email clients don't accept HTML, click Plain Text.
          7. To add layouts sections, select the Layouts tab, drag layouts to the editor, and then drag blocks into the content areas to create a group of content.
          8. To set or change the template and styles of the email, select the Design tab and click Change Template.
          9. Enter an email subject and optional preheader, then click Next to preview and test your email.
          10. To send an email, use Journey Builder or Email Studio.
          11. To apply changes to an existing Email Template, follow these steps:
            1. Select the Email Name to update.
            2. Click Properties and make your changes.
            3. Apply your template changes.

          To update an email that uses this template to the modified version, click Update Email Now from the email properties. The updated template adds content areas to the email for each edited template area. Review the content versions and delete the ones you don't want.

          Edits to emails used in active journeys aren’t used in the journey until you update the activity. See Update an Email in a Running Journey.
