Domain Verification for Marketing Cloud Engagement Email

Domain Verification for Marketing Cloud Engagement Email

To send an email from Marketing Cloud Engagement, you must use a Verified Domain as the Sending Domain in a From Address. Verification ensures that only authorized domains can be used within your account to send emails using your company’s domain, preventing domain spoofing and unauthorized use.

          Creating a Verified Domain

To streamline the verification process and avoid sending restrictions, your account must validate ownership of a domain before creating From Addresses. You create Verified Domains in three ways:

Once a domain is verified, all associated user email addresses that use the domain are automatically verified without requiring additional mail inbox verification.

          Understanding Email Domains

To determine the domain for your From addresses, get familiar with the parts of an email address. An email address has three parts:

          • The local-part, which is often the username of the recipient and is a specific mailbox.
          • The @ symbol.
          • The domain that is applied to organizations and companies, for example ntoretail.com.

A domain can have an unlimited number of email addresses associated with it.

          Viewing Verified Domains and Addresses

You can view all of your account's established domains and individual From Addresses in Setup under From Address Management.

Review the list of domains and addresses associated with your account:

          • Verified Domains: Rows representing entire domains are designated with a type: SAP, Private, or Registered.
          • From Addresses: Rows representing individual sender emails that use your Verified Domains. You can create an unlimited number of From Addresses using any of your Verified Domains.
          Note
Note Existing accounts may see From Addresses marked with User Domain type.
          • From Address and Domain Verification Checklist
To avoid restricted sends, verify any From email address you plan to use with Marketing Cloud Engagement. Use this checklist to help you locate and verify sending From addresses. You may not use From addresses found in all these areas. All verified From addresses can be found in From Address Management.

          • From Address Management
Add a single From address and import multiple From addresses within Setup From Address Management. Importing multiple addresses is ideal for accounts that use AMPscript in Sender Profiles to create dynamic From addresses in email sends. Only import addresses that you plan to use as From addresses in email sends.
          • Domain Registration
Domain Registration verifies From addresses of accounts that aren't part of a recommended authenticated domain. To streamline the verification process and avoid sending restrictions, register a non-authenticated domain and validate the entire domain’s ownership. All associated user email addresses that use the registered domain are verified without sending an email to that address. Authenticating a domain in Marketing Cloud Engagement requires a Sender Authentication Package or Private Domain.
