Opportunity
Use the Opportunity activity to create an opportunity record in the Sales and Service Cloud. Marketing Cloud Engagement contact attributes can be used to populate fields on the opportunity record. Or populate each record with fixed values you choose.
Use this activity these use cases:
- Create an opportunity
- Tell Journey Builder who is in the opportunity contact role
- Associate the opportunity to a contact or lead Identify the campaign that is the source of the opportunity
- Drag the Opportunity activity from the canvas activities pane onto the canvas.
- Hover over the Opportunity activity icon on the canvas.
- To rename the activity, click Opportunity.
- Click Configure.

Use the Add Details page to populate fields that contains identical values on each record.
The fields shown correspond to fields in a Sales and Service Cloud opportunity record.
Use this step to add details each opportunity has in common. Each option populates a field on the opportunity record in the Sales and Service Cloud. Additionally, choose whether an Opportunity Contact Role is created for the Engagement contacts that reach this activity on this step.For example, if the Opportunity created for each Engagement contact that reaches this activity is in the Prospecting stage, set that value using the Stage dropdown menu.Note Variables based on Engagement attributes can be used in the Opportunity Name. The attribute value is then filled in when the opportunity is created.
- To add Engagement attributes in the Opportunity Name, click Format Text.

Click Done.
If no fields in the new opportunity record are populated with these values—or if all values on each record are distinct, or mapped on the next step—skip the previous steps.
- Select Create an Opportunity Contact Role if the Engagement contact reaching this activity becomes the Opportunity Contact. If no match is found in the Sales and Service Cloud for the contact ID, the Opportunity Contact Role isn’t populated.
- Use the campaign mapper to search for and select the campaign that is the source of the opportunity.

Select a mapping option: Additional Fields or Opportunity Contact Role.
- To map Engagement attributes to populate opportunity record fields, select Additional Fields.

To find the Engagement attribute field that contains a value that can be used to populate
fields in this role, select Opportunity Contact Role. Alternately, click Set Fixed Values to
set a value that is the same in each opportunity record created.
For example, if each Opportunity Contact is placed in the Influencer role, click Set Fixed Values and select Influencer in the Role field.
- Click Apply.
- When mapping Additional fields, click an attribute group in the Marketing Cloud Engagement column to locate a specific attribute. Hover over the name of the data extension to view the path.
- After locating the attribute, drag it onto the Sales and Service Cloud field it populates. Sales and Service Cloud fields are populated by the options selected on Step 1 and are shown on Step 2.
- Alternately, click Set Fixed Values to apply the same attribute values to each new opportunity record that is created. To type in a value, click a field shown on this page.
- Click Next.
- Click Done.
