Create a Location Entry Message

Use the Location Entry Message template to send a push message to mobile devices that enter a specific geographic location. MobilePush limits outbound messages to 2048 bytes, including sounds and features.

1. Enter a name for the message.
2. Select the app to associate with the message.
3. Select the type of message to send.
4. Enter the message. If you insert personalization strings or AMPscript, the number of bytes used isn’t available.
5. Save the message.
6. Make the remaining selections.
   • If you enabled Custom Sound for your app, select which sound to play when a push message arrives.
   • Select whether to update the number of unread messages displayed on the iOS badge for this app when you send the message. Enable your mobile app to use badge count correctly and use the correct API calls to increment and reset your badge count. Changing this switch to No doesn’t reset the badge count for users of your app.
   • If you enabled OpenDirect for your app, enter the URL address for the screen to display when the user selects a message in the OpenDirect field. Specify the complete URL including https://.
   • If you enabled Custom Keys for your app, enter the key values. You can include an AMPscript value in Custom Key text fields to insert unique keys based on Contact attributes or campaigns.
7. Move to the next page.
8. Select or create the location.
   

   Tip You can select multiple locations. Leave a 65-meter buffer zone between selected locations to avoid sending too many messages to a mobile device.
9. Move to the next page.
10. Schedule or send the message.
    

    Note To change a location entry message within an hour of the scheduled send time, deactivate the message, make your changes, and then reactivate the message.
