You are here:
Send a Test Message to Validate Accuracy
Send a test push notification, in-app message, or inbox message to a user or device to test its content and personalization attributes before you send it to customers.
To test an inbox or outbound push message, create the message in MobilePush and then send it as a test. Test sends for inbox messages expire three days after you send them.
If your message is a standard push notification or in-app message in Content Builder, test it in Journey Builder.
With MobilePush, you can test your message after you create it. In Journey Builder, test your message after you select the app on the message configuration page.
- After you create the message, click Send Test.
-
Choose an identifier to define your test audience or target device. Select one of these
options:
- Test Audience — Select a predefined group of test users from Contact List or Data Extension.
- System Token — Enter a system token to target a specific device. To find the system token, search for the value in Contact Builder. Click the value, and then copy the value in the System Token field.
- Device ID — Enter a device ID to send the message to a specific device. To locate a device ID, search for the value in Contact Builder, and then click the link.
- Contact Key — Enter a contact key to target an individual user. If you select a contact key that has more than 50 devices, choose up to 50 devices to send the test message to.
Send Test isn’t available for developer-defined buttons in the app.
