Pinterest API Connector

Prerequisites

Provide a valid Pinterest username and password. After it is authenticated, under Profile select the Profile you want to retrieve.

Details

• The connector shows LIFETIME type Measurements. LIFETIME Measurements display the accumulated value of the Measurement as of the current date.
• When a Pinterest Data Stream is created, all posts from the Creation Date of your profile are retrieved.
• Entries in the Data Stream Log appear under the processing date of the extraction date (‘Today’)
• When processing the Data Stream, there’s no date selection, as all data for all posts is retrieved until today and assigned a date value that is identical to the day of processing.
• Measurement data retrieved for all posts will be accurate as of the date when processing takes place.
• Data Streams in LIFETIME Aggregation don’t allow for any failed retrievals to be reprocessed post-failure, in order to prevent potential data inaccuracies. For example, say a Data Stream retrieval failed on January 1, 2019 at 8 AM. Even a minute or two later - the data will be updated and refreshed, and what is available for retrieval on the platform will no longer reflect what was attempted to be retrieved a minute or two prior - not to mention how much the data may change by January 2, 2019. Reprocessing that failed retrieval on January 2nd would mean that data that didn’t exist in the platform on January 1 would be attributed to January 1 - a misrepresentation, which could lead to serious inaccuracies.
• Similarly, after data is deleted from a Pinterest Data Stream, the deleted data won’t be accessible for retrieval through reprocessing, because of the nature of LIFETIME Measurements.
• In order to reprocess data retrieved in the past without actually deleting any data - for example, to accommodate changes in mapping - the Re-Run Files option can be used, which is located under the ‘Log’ button in the Data Streams Management menu.

QA Your Data

1. Create the desired report in the Pinterest UI for the required date range.
2. Then, process the relevant Data Stream in Marketing Cloud Intelligence Data Pipelines for the same date range.
3. Create a Report/Pivot Table within Marketing Cloud Intelligence Data Pipelines containing the exact same Dimensions and Measurements for the same report and date range.
4. Compare the Measurement Totals and make sure they’re aligned.
