Definitions
Campaigns and flows work together to organize and automate your marketing efforts, but they’re two distinct objects in Salesforce. A campaign can relate to multiple flows, but each flow can relate to only one campaign.
| Campaign | An object that organizes the assets and metadata comprising a marketing effort. | Performance metrics for related assets roll up to a campaign. |
| Flow | A series of automated actions represented like a flow chart on an interactive canvas. | For marketers, a flow can automate message sends and follow-up tasks, such as record creation or lead routing. |
| Marketing Flow | A flow that is used for marketing purposes, such as content distribution. | A term used in Salesforce Help to differentiate a flow for marketing purposes from a traditional flow that admins create. As part of creating a campaign, you also create a flow. To get the most out of reporting, make sure that marketing flows are always related to a campaign. |
- Campaign Record vs. Flow Canvas
A campaign record shows information about each flow in the campaign, and it's designed to reflect certain elements from the Flow Builder canvas. Some features and settings that appear in Flow Builder aren't available on the campaign record, and vice versa. - Work with Campaigns
When you create a marketing campaign, the first task is to decide what flow to start with. You can add more flows to your campaign as you go and each flow can be as simple or as complex as you need. - Work with Marketing Flows
Flows are an independent object in Salesforce and they have a wide variety of use cases. In marketing, campaigns and flows are designed to work together to organize marketing efforts, automate content distribution, and report outcomes. - Tools for Tracking and Reporting on Campaigns
