Before You Upgrade
Before you upgrade a B2B Marketing Analytics app, identify and log the dataset IDs that are referenced in your dataflows, lenses, and dashboards. The upgrade automatically replaces the IDs that are necessary for the standard dashboards in your app.

Each time Salesforce releases new features or enhancements to B2B Marketing Analytics, users must upgrade their apps. When you load the new version, it overwrites dataset IDs and details that break the customizations you have made. To make sure that you don’t lose work, save a backup copy of your app and log the Account Engagement dataset IDs that are being used.
During the upgrade, we recommend creating an app instead of overwriting the current one. After you verify that everything works as expected, you can delete the old version.
First, identify the dataset IDs that are in use. Create a tracking spreadsheet where you can list IDs, names, and usage for reference throughout this process. To prevent custom lenses and reports from being overwritten, save everything to a private or shared app.
- Open Analytics Studio, and select Data Manager and then select Data.
- For the datasets used in a B2B Marketing Analytics app, click the action menu and select Edit Dataset.
-
In the page URL, find the dataset ID and add it to your tracking document.

-
In the Usage section, find out where the dataset is being used and copy that
information to your tracking document.
Some datasets in Analytics Studio aren’t used in B2B Marketing Analytics apps. Make sure that the App column shows a B2B Marketing Analytics app. Other apps, such as Engagement History, Private App, or Shared App, don’t need any changes.
Repeat this task for all your Account Engagement datasets. Save the IDs, dataset names, and where each one is used in your tracking document. You can reference this information while you edit your custom app.
Everything left in the B2B Marketing Analytics app is overwritten when you upgrade. If you use custom reports or lenses, copy them into the My Private Apps or My Shared Apps folders to protect them from deletion.
- In Analytics Studio, filter your view to Dashboards.
- Click the action menu and select Edit.
- Save the dashboard and select My Private App or My Shared App in the App field.
