          Referral Activity Tracking

          The activities of advocates and their referred friends are tracked in a referral program. Rewards are automatically provided to advocates and their referred friends when reward-eligible activities are completed. You can use a Business API or a flow action to create records that track the activities of advocates and their referred friends.

          • How Activities are Tracked in Referral Marketing
            A referral promotion must track activities that advocates and their referred friends complete through the promotion's stages. For activities in each stage, a set of records is created or updated, and emails are sent to either the advocates or their referred friends.
          • Referral Event Business API
            Use the Referral Event Business API to create tracking records for referral activities that advocates and their referred friends complete during the last three stages of promotions. The API also automates the issuing of rewards after advocates and their referred friends complete eligible activities. For each activity, a transaction journal is created and other records are created or updated. Integrate the API with any site or external website where advocates and their referred friends perform the activities. For example, you can integrate the API with your ecommerce site, point of sale (POS), or customer portal.
          • Referral Event Action
            Use the Process Referral Event action in Flow Builder to create tracking records for referral activities that advocates and their referred friends complete during the last three stages of promotions. The action also automates the issuing of rewards after advocates and their referred friends complete eligible activities. For each activity, a transaction journal is created and other records are created or updated. Use the additional elements in Flow Builder to decide the eligibility criteria for referral activities. You can also add follow-up actions after the Process Referral action.
          • Orchestration of Extended Rewards
            Use extended rewards to gain precise control over your referral programs. Dynamically adjust reward values, control when extended rewards are issued, and communicate them clearly with customers. Gain granular control over the events that trigger rewards. With extended rewards, you can integrate with external platforms to deliver a wider range of rewards. After you activate a referral program with extended rewards, understand how they are processed and connected with external systems.
          • Referral Activity Tracking Without Person Account
            When you don’t have person accounts enabled in your org, the process of tracking activities differs from the standard procedure.
