SMS Code Provisioning Guidelines
Use a Singapore alphanumeric code for sending one-way messages, both locally and internationally. Use a Singapore long or short code for two-way messaging.
Alphanumeric codes can't be generic. They must be associated with a brand, enterprise, product, or service. These codes can only use alphanumeric characters and spaces, with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 11 characters.
To make sure your SMS messages to Singapore aren't labeled as Likely Scam or blocked, register your alphanumeric code or preallocated short or long code in the SMS Sender ID Registry (SSIR) Portal. To register the code, follow the instructions in the SSIR Guide. For all codes, add Sinch Singapore Pte Ltd as the SMS aggregator or supplier. For long codes, provide the phone number without the 65 country code prefix. For example, register the number 6598233122 as 98233122. For details, see the SSIR rules of registration.
After your code is approved, complete the Singapore Letter of Authorisation (LOA) and share it with your Salesforce account executive.
Even if your business isn’t based in Singapore, you can sign up on the SSIR Portal after you get a local Unique Entity Number (UEN). You can obtain a UEN by registering with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). Register as a local subsidiary or foreign branch office, after paying the required fees.
Restricted Content
You’re responsible for complying with local rules and regulations. To ensure compliance, familiarize yourself with the legislation of the local market. Provide an opt-out option in marketing messages and communicate during business hours only. Make sure your contact lists exclude numbers listed in the national Do Not Call (DNC) Registry or establish explicit consent before sending messages. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) have enhanced digital banking security by removing clickable links in SMS messages. Therefore, all financial institutions must omit links in their SMS communications. Singapore generally forbids content related, but not limited to, adult, drugs, tobacco, money lending, and gambling products and services.
