Create a Branded Domain for Unified Messaging

Create a Branded Domain for Unified Messaging

Use a branded domain to shorten URLs to personalized links. You can then use shortened text in your messages and use the links to track interactions. A branded domain requires a valid CA-signed HTTPS certificate.

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Salesforce Enterprise and Unlimited Editions for Service Cloud AND Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Marketing Cloud Next Growth and Advanced Editions
Not supported in Government Cloud Plus
          1. In Setup, in the Quick Find box, search for the appropriate domain page.
            1. For SMS domains, enter URL Shortening Domain, and then select URL Shortening Domain.
            2. For email domains, enter Links, and then select Links in the Email section of Unified Messaging.
          2. Click New Domain.
          3. Enter the name of your domain, and select the CA-signed HTTPS certificate to use. This process automatically adds the prefix https:// to your URL. We recommend using a subdomain for this branded domain.
          4. Save your domain.
          5. Click the dropdown next to the domain record that you created and select Details.
          6. Configure the required DNS CNAME record with your domain registrar. Work with your IT team to update your DNS settings and authenticate the domain.
          7. After the DNS information propagates, click Status to activate the domain.

After you activate the domain, you can select it for use when sending your messages. Shortened links expire in 90 days and after the links expire, subscribers receive a page not found error.
