          Appointment Statuses and Status Categories in Salesforce Scheduler

          Using service appointment statuses, users can track the status of appointments throughout the appointment lifecycle. Each appointment status is mapped to one of the standard, out-of-the-box service appointment status categories. Status categories can be used to create and use custom statuses while maintaining a consistent work classification for tracking and reporting. You can create custom appointment statuses but you can’t create status categories.

          The default Salesforce Scheduler statuses map to status categories with the same name.

          If you want to change the default status value, edit the status value that you want to use as the default, and then select Make this value the default for the master picklist.

          Here’s how Salesforce Scheduler uses status categories.

          Service Appointment Status Categories

          This table describes the service appointment status categories in Salesforce Scheduler.

          Status Category Appointment Category Meaning Blocks time slot?
          None Scheduled An appointment is created. This is the default status. Yes
          Drop In This value isn’t relevant for drop-in appointments. No
          Checked In Scheduled The customer has arrived at the branch (service territory) for their scheduled appointment. Yes
          Drop In A drop-in participant is added to an active waitlist. No
          Scheduled Scheduled An appointment is created. Yes
          Drop In The service resource accepted the drop-in appointment request. Yes
          In Progress Scheduled The service resource is in the meeting. Yes
          Drop In The service resource started the drop-in appointment. Yes
          Completed Scheduled The appointment is complete. No
          Drop In The service resource ended the drop-in appointment. No
          Cannot Complete Scheduled The service resource canceled the appointment. No
          Drop In This value isn’t relevant for drop-in appointments. No
          Canceled Scheduled The appointment is canceled, typically before it began. No
          Drop In A waitlist participant asked the greeter to cancel their drop-in appointment, or the greeter or the service resource marked the waitlist participant as no show. No
          • Create an Appointment Status
            Create and map custom appointment statuses to appointment categories. You can create multiple appointment statuses with the same status category, but you can’t map multiple status categories to the same appointment status.
