Manage Public Group Membership
In public groups, you can assign and remove members such as users, other groups, roles, and portal roles. Where you manage public group membership depends on the type of updates that you’re making.

Manage Public Group Membership in a Group’s Access Summary
If you’re managing different members for a single public group, it’s most efficient to use the public group’s access summary.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Public Groups, then and select Public Groups.
- Select a public group, and then click View Summary.

In the All Public Group Members section, select the tab for the member type.
- Users
- Public Groups
- Roles
- Roles & Internal Subordinates
- Roles, Internal & Portal Subordinates
- Territories
- To add members to the selected public group, click Add Members.
- To remove the selected members from the public group, click Remove Members.
When you manage the membership of public groups, keep these considerations in mind.
- You can add or remove up to 100 members at a time.
- The search function works only for the Full Name field in the Users tab and for the Label field in the other tabs.
- You can add and delete multiple members from different tabs (100 members total).
- In the Channel Programs and Level Groups and Territories tabs, you can see only the features that you have access to.
- You can’t add members for the Channel Programs and Level Groups and Territories tabs, but you can delete members.
Manage a User’s Public Group Membership in the User Access Summary
If you’re viewing and managing public group membership for an individual user, it’s most efficient to use the user’s access summary.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Users, and then select Users.
- Select a user, and then click View Summary.
- Under the Groups and Queues section, go to the Public Group Membership tab. You can view the user’s assigned public groups.
- To add the user to public groups, click Add.
- To remove the user from public groups, select one or more public groups, and then click Remove.
To help you manage the public group membership more easily, you can search the list by Label and sort it by Label or API Name.
