Getting Started with Security Center Extension
Security Center Extension is a useful Salesforce admin tool. It assists admins in classifying data, looking at and improving their security, and managing permissions and alerts. The Security Center Extension has features to compare security settings with best practices, learn about changes to the settings, and schedule regular analysis. It also has detailed views and customizable alerts.
Security Center Extension enables a Salesforce admin to:
- Perform Data Classification by assigning default or custom levels and categories to all fields within the org and view real time data classification progress.
- Rapidly review overall security posture within Salesforce.
- Compare existing security settings against recommended best practices.
- Gain insights on how to improve security posture by making configuration updates within Salesforce.
- See which Salesforce users, profiles, permission sets, and permission set groups have what levels of access to objects and fields, as well as a separate view for Permissions.
- Schedule analysis and snapshots on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
- Estimate field usage to drive security tech debt prioritization decisions.
- Receive customized alerts based on key security findings.
- Export views and results to a CSV file for review outside of Security Center Extension, or to retain the data for future reporting needs.
Security Center Permission Sets
Security Center Extension has permission sets that assign users different levels of access to tabs and functionality.
To assign permissions, add any of these permission sets to a user account:
- Security Center Extension Who Sees What Explorer: Grants access to the Who Sees What tab.
- Security Center Extension Security Insights Policy Manager: Manage policies within Security Center Extension, including dismissing results in Security Insights.
- Security Center Extension Super User: Provides full access to all Own Secure tabs and features.
- Security Center Extension Security Insights Manager: Grants access to the Security Insights tab.
- Security Center Extension View Data Classification Tab: Allows access to view the Data Classification tab.
- Security Center Extension Data Classifier: Grants the ability to apply Data Classification levels to fields.
- Security Center Extension Modify Config: Grants the ability to modify all options on the Config tab.
Security Center Extension Feature Tabs
Access the Security Center Extension’s features through one of these tabs:
- Security Insights: Analyzes and provides risk scores for an org's Salesforce security posture, highlighting risky configurations.
- Data Classification: Provides the ability to classify fields within an org to identify sensitive information that requires protection, based on regulatory or security policies.
- Who Sees What Explorer: Displays detailed information about the security posture of the org from both a data access and permissions perspective.
- Security Center Extension Config: Contains the configuration options for Security Center Extension.
- Install the Security Center Extension
The Security Center Extension is a managed package. Use the standard process for installing a managed package. - Security Center Extension Configuration
The Security Center Extension Config tab contains configuration options for the Security Center Extension. Users with the appropriate permissions can manage settings and configurations so that the extension operates according to the organization's specific security requirements and preferences. - Elevated Permissions for Non-Admin Users in Security Center Extension
