Who Sees What Explorer Tab in Secure
The Who Sees What Explorer tab in Secure provides five lenses to help administrators understand and manage user access to objects, records, and system permissions within the Salesforce Org. Each lens offers a unique perspective and detailed insights, enabling precise access control and compliance monitoring.
Objects Lens
When you choose any object in the Salesforce Org, the Objects lens links each Profile, Permission Set, and Permission Set Group in one view. It shows the level of access for each Profile, Permission Set, and Permission Set Group for each field of the selected object. The Objects Lens provides the access reasons and the ability to filter or search using type-ahead functionality, and to download a .csv file.
The Objects Lens can also be viewed “By User”. This option can be enabled within the Settings tab after contacting Own Support. This view cross references any object against each user.
Records Lens
Use the Records lens to search for and select any record in the Salesforce Org and get a list of users who can access it. Access levels are broken up by Read, Edit, and Delete per user. It also lists the reasons each user has that level of access, such as profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, and role hierarchy.
Users Lens
Use the Users lens to search on any single user in the Salesforce Org, get a detailed view into the user’s access level to each of the objects and fields in the Org, including why that user has that level of access. You can also view the last log in info for the user, the fields associated classification level, field data type, filter or search using type-ahead functionality, and download a .csv file of the info. Additionally, click the System Permissions tab on a selected user to view all the system permissions they have been assigned and the reasons for the assignment.
System Permissions Lens
The Systems Permissions lens displays all the System Permissions and the associated Internal and External User counts, as well as the Profile, Permission Set, and Permission Set Group counts, and view the Profiles, Permission Sets, and Permission Set Groups that have access to each System Permission.
This lens can also be viewed by toggling the view in the Settings tab. This view cross references any system permission against each user and displays the counts for Profiles, Permission Sets, and Permission Set Groups.
Profiles & Permission Sets Lens
The Profiles & Permission Sets lens enables you to search for a specific profile, permission, or permission set. The lens provides two views for the specified profile or permission, "Objects & Fields" and "System Permissions".
Session-Based Permissions In Who Sees What Explorer Tab
If the Profile, Permission Set, or Permission Set Group is Session-based, the Session-based icon appears next to the name of the field.
If the Permission Set is session-based, the Permission Set will have access to the assigned fields if the Session-Based Permission Set is activated.
When "View By User" is enabled on the Settings tab, the Session-based icon appears next to the user’s name. This indicates the access level is granted with a session-based permission set. If the icon has a red circle through it, this indicates the session-based permission set is active, but the user already has that level of access for a different reason.
- Compare Users, Profiles, Permission Sets, and Permission Set Groups
Some lenses in the Who Sees What Explorer tab include a Compare option. Use the Compare option to compare object, field, and permission access between users, profiles, permission sets, and permission set groups.
